AI workforce readiness check

Start with the work.
Bring people with you.

AI adoption is more than access to a tool. Find the practical conditions your team needs to turn one useful idea into a well-run pilot.

7 questions · About 5 minutes

This is a website preview. The check has no separate sign-up. Your answers stay in this page.

Keep the question small

One workflow.
One honest conversation.

Choose a specific workflow in your mind — for example drafting an internal briefing or preparing a first-pass knowledge summary. Keep employee, customer and confidential details out of this tool.

Answer for what is in place today. “Not sure” is useful: it tells you where to find evidence before acting.

What you will leave with

  1. 01

    A view of the foundations

Seven dimensions covering tasks, skills, ownership, guardrails, involvement and value.

  2. 02

    Your next three actions

Practical work, the owners to involve and what progress should look like.

  3. 03

    Proportionate support

Use internal capacity, targeted expertise or dedicated coordination — not a programme by default.

How this check works

A guide to a better decision.
Not a certification.

This is Merit’s original, provisional discussion framework. It has not been validated as a predictive assessment. It evaluates your self-reported conditions for one workflow, not an organisation’s overall readiness or any individual’s suitability.

It does not provide legal, security or compliance assurance. Your organisation’s required reviews and approvals still apply.

The transparent rules

  1. All seven questions need an answer. There is no overall percentage score.
  2. Ownership, data boundaries and human review are core conditions. Anything other than “Established” on these means “Resolve the foundations first”.
  3. If those conditions are established but any other answer is “Not sure”, the result is “Replace uncertainty with evidence”.
  4. Otherwise, any “Not yet”, or more than two “In progress” answers, means “Build a stronger pilot foundation”.
  5. Other complete combinations mean “Consider a bounded pilot” — never blanket readiness or permission to deploy.

Next actions prioritise core conditions, then uncertainty, missing and partial foundations. Ties follow this order: data, human review, ownership, workflow, trust, skills, value. Only three actions are shown; review every dimension.

Support rules: any unknown means internal fact-finding first. Otherwise, four or more gaps or two unresolved core conditions suggest dedicated coordination; more than one gap or any unresolved core condition suggests targeted support; other combinations suggest internal capacity. These are discussion prompts, not staffing estimates or a recommendation to buy services.

Privacy, limits & responsible use

Responses are held only in this page’s memory. There are no uploads, response storage, analytics or API calls. Refreshing or closing the page clears answers. Downloaded and printed copies are yours to manage. Hosting may record standard access metadata.

Do not enter employee, customer or confidential information. This check is for workflow planning: not hiring, performance, redundancy or eligibility decisions. It does not recommend replacing people or make claims about guaranteed productivity.

Use actual evidence and involve the people doing the work. Keep meaningful human decision rights. For sensitive or high-impact uses, involve the appropriate internal specialists and do not rely on this tool as approval.
